How to Set Up 2-Factor Authentication

Enable 2-factor authentication to boost security!

Updated over a month ago

Overview

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Resly account—think of it as a second lock on your front door.

It’s a must-have for all users. When you log into Resly, you’ll be prompted to set up 2FA before you can get started. Don’t worry—it only takes a minute, and it helps keep your account safe and secure!

Before You Start

  • Ensure you have access to your mobile phone or access to your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Duo, Apple Passwords)

How It Works

Two-factor authentication works by sending a verification code to your mobile phone via sms or using an authenticator app whenever you log in. This code must be entered to complete the login process, adding an additional layer of security.

This extra layer of protection helps safeguard your account from unauthorised access, even if your password is compromised.

Step-by-Step For SMS Authentication

  1. Log in to Resly

  2. Select SMS Authentication

  3. Input your mobile phone number in the provided field.

  4. Click on Verify Number. A verification code will be sent to your phone.

  5. Enter the code in the field provided and click on Add Authentication.

  6. Once the code is verified, you will see a confirmation message indicating that Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled for your phone number.

Step-by-Step For Authenticator App

  1. Log in to Resly

  2. Select Authenticator App

  3. Scan the QR Code and click Continue

Note: If you cannot scan the QR code, enter the code into the authenticator app

  4. Enter the code from the authenticator app in the field provided and click "Add Authentication."

  5. Once the code is verified, you will see a confirmation message indicating that Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled.

Troubleshooting/FAQ's

What if I’m overseas or lose my phone and can’t log in?

No worries! If you’re locked out, ask an Admin user to remove you and add you back. Once you regain access, be sure to set up 2-Factor Authentication again using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Duo, or Apple Passwords.

But what if I’m the only Admin user?

If you’re the sole Admin, don’t stress—just reach out to [email protected], and they’ll help you get back in.

Can I have 2FA on multiple devices/authenticator apps?

If you want to use 2FA on multiple devices (e.g., phone + tablet), they need to set them up at the same time:

  • During setup, scan the same QR code on all devices

  • Each device will then generate the same 6-digit code since they share the same secret key

What if I want to change my verification method from SMS to an Authenticator app (or the other way around)?

You can easily switch your verification method at any time.

To do this:

  • Click on your profile in the top right corner of Resly

  • Select "Remove Two-Factor Auth"

  • Once removed, you’ll be prompted to set up 2FA again, where you can choose your preferred method—either SMS or an Authenticator app.
