When reviewing your business performance in Resly, you may notice that your Pace Report and Performance Report don’t always match, especially when it comes to occupancy and revenue. That’s not a mistake. These reports serve different purposes and use different data sets. In this article, we look at the key differences and how to interpret each report accurately.
The Key Difference at a Glance
Report Type | Focus | What It Includes | What It Excludes |
Pace Report | Future Pacing (forward-looking) | Confirmed bookings made in the past 365 days | Bookings made more than 365 days ago, even if the stay is in the current report period |
Performance Report | Actual performance (retrospective) | All stays that occur within the selected reporting period, regardless of when the booking was made | Nothing excluded based on booking date
|
Example Date: 10 July 2025
Let’s say today is 10 July 2025, and you're comparing occupancy for July 2025 using both the Pace and Performance Reports.
What does the Pace Report include?
The Pace Report will only include bookings for July 2025 that were made between 11 July 2024 and 10 July 2025.
Any bookings made before 11 July 2024 will not appear in the report, even if the guest is staying during July 2025.
What does the Performance Report include?
The Performance Report will include all bookings with stay dates in July 2025, no matter when they were made, even if they were booked more than a year ago.
Why the Numbers Can Differ
Imagine your July 2025 occupancy shows as 80% in the Performance Report, but only 62% in the Pace Report. That 18% difference could be explained by bookings that were made more than 365 days ago, which are excluded from the Pace Report.
Summary: When to Use Each Report
Use Case | Best Report to Use |
Forecasting future occupancy or revenue trends | Pace Report |
Analysing actual occupancy or revenue for a month | Performance Report |
Identifying booking behavior and lead times | Pace Report |
Reviewing how a month actually performed | Performance Report |
If you're seeing a big difference between the two reports, check how many bookings were made more than 12 months ago. That’s often the missing piece of the puzzle.
