How to Add a New Agent

Overview

Adding a new agent is a quick and easy way to keep track of bookings, commissions, and agent-related details. It helps streamline your workflow and ensures everything runs smoothly for both you and your agents.


Before You Start

  • Have the agent’s details ready, like their name, contact info, and commission rates—this will save you time during setup.


How It Works

Agents are like your trusted partners in handling bookings. By adding them to your system, you can easily manage their bookings and commissions while keeping everything organised and accurate.

How To Add A New Agent

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click on General > Agents

  3. Click on New Agent

A pop-up box will appear where you can enter the Reference and Agent Name.

Note: These details will identify the agent in the system:

Reference: A unique identifier for the agent.
Agent Name: The name of the agent or agency.


Edit the New Agent

After adding the agent, their details will appear on the Agent Page.

To complete the setup, click on the 'Edit' button next to the newly added agent.​


Configure Commission and Account Details

In the pop up box configure your Commission settings

Commission

Select the commission type. Options include a percentage-based commission or a fixed commission amount.

Commission Rate

Enter the commission value. For percentage commissions, enter the percentage rate. For fixed commissions, enter the dollar amount.

Agent pays out the net amount after commission is deducted

Enable this option when the agent remits the booking revenue after deducting their commission. This ensures commission is calculated on the original gross booking amount rather than the net amount received from the agent.

This commission includes GST

Enable this option when the commission rate entered already includes GST. Resly will separate the GST component when calculating commission values and reporting.


Configure Commission Account Codes and Linked Account

Account Code - Select the account code you would like to use. This would normally be the agent's name. To learn how to create an account code, click here

Linked Account – The account to which the agent’s payments will be directed.


Important Note: Ensure that you select the correct To Account, as it defaults to Manager. If you have not set up a specific account for this agent, you will need to create one first. For instructions on setting up an account for this agent, click here.


Mark Agent as a "Comp Agent"

If the agent is for non-revenue generating bookings, like complimentary stays, you can select the option "Comp: This is a Comp Agent". For more information on Comp Agent, click here.

  • Comp Agent: Selecting this option ensures that rooms occupied by the agent will not count toward the available room nights in the performance report and will not contribute to revenue figures.

  • Once all the information is entered, click Save Changes to complete the setup.
